The box was pretty banged up (so much so that the FedEx guy noted it on his pad), but everything seemed okay. After three days of attempting to put it together I have concluded a few things. First, my bike did not arrive with all of its parts intact. I had parts missing from one of my rear brake pads, which I didn't realize until I removed the rear wheel and the brake pad fell off with it. Secondly, the parts that did arrive were not in good working order. The front fender was so bent that when I attached it to the bike frame, it was touching the wheel. The bike chain was so twisted that I had to figure out how to remove the derailleur to get it off. Which lead me to our local bike repair shop. I am now paying $80 to get my brand new bike in working order so I can attempt to use it.
Advice for future buyers. The component parts of the bike seem to be great, but the construction was pretty shoddy. If you buy it, and it arrives in good condition,... Read more
10 of 10 people found the following review helpful Good bike: TERRIBLE SHIPPING!!!, August 24, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Schwinn Women's Wayfarer 7 Speed Bicycle (Sports) I completely agree with the other reviewers: The shipping for this bike is absolutely terrible. I'm very surprised that I received all the correct parts. The wheels were heavily scratched, the paint was marred and the wheel cover was bent.
It took a long time to get the bike in proper working condition. Once there, it's actually a nice bike for the price. It looks good and rides well. My girlfriend has been pleased with it.
I also ordered a men's Schwinn Network 7 bike at the same time as this and the difference in the packaging/shipping is dramatic. The Network 7 arrived packaged with loving care and in perfect condition.
I would try to find this bike at a local shop rather that buying online.
11 of 12 people found the following review helpful Good Value for Flat Land Rides, July 10, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Schwinn Women's Wayfarer 7 Speed Bicycle (Sports) The bike was easy for one person to assemble (took about two hours including brake and shifter adjustments) and it looks more expensive than it cost. Make sure you read the general assembly instructions (go on-line to Schwinn) and that you have the metric tools called for. The first gear is fairly high...fine for fairly flat land, but may be a challenge for geezers on hills.
